Remember when you were younger, and Christmas was all about the presents. You couldn’t wait to write that letter to Santa so he would know just what to get you. You didn’t just want regular Barbie, you wanted Baby Spice Barbie, and if it wasn’t the right one, you would have been upset! Christmas literally meant waking up and opening presents. That’s what you looked forward to and that’s what you thought the season was all about.
However, I’ve enjoyed Christmas much more since my mentality changed.
We live in a wonderfully crazy world.
A world where choice is ours.
A world where literally everything and anything is at our finger tips.
A world where technological advances have far surpassed anything our grandparents could have ever imagined.
We also live in a world of lies; where getting ahead is more important than helping those far behind.
We live in a world where social media ‘likes’ define our popularity.
I’ve had some people ask me “What made you want to write?” And you know what, to be 100% truthful, it’s not so much that I decided to become a writer, as much as I feel like it has always been a part of me. As cliché as this sounds, it’s the only way I can answer it. I’m a people person, I always have been. I connect to people over words. I used to love English class and I still love correcting my husband’s spelling and grammar! I kept a journal for as long as I can remember, and after a stressful day I used to look forward to writing everything down. (Too bad I wasn’t famous; I could be paid for an autobiography already written that I have stashed away in my closet). My last job I was the Marketing Manager and I got them into writing blogs, and you know what? Writing blogs was my favourite part of my job!
Although I get the pleasure of working for anyone across the world, I do live in Barrie, Ontario, therefore I have a sweet spot for my beautiful city. For anyone who does live in Barrie, or is planning on visiting, I’m outlining the best things about Barrie! These are my (totally biased!) opinions! If you disagree, have a comment, or like to suggest something I haven’t mentioned, I’d love to hear from you!
Since you can’t devote your whole life to planning your big day, unless of course, you actually are a wedding planner, and that’s exactly what you devote each day to, you’re going to have to come up with a better way to sort and deal with your thoughts! I recommend a note book and your phone! Write down the thought as it enters your head, and then, let it leave your brain as quickly as it entered! When you have time devoted to wedding planning, you’ll have a set list of things you need to conquer. A list is great because you can check things off...and with each check a higher sense of accomplishment.
Why are these common questions after getting married? Don’t get me wrong, I’ve probably asked the same question before I was married, expecting to get some answer that proves married people live in a completely parallel universe.
Well, let me tell you, if you already lived with your partner beforehand, split bills, split up responsibilities, then nothing changes! (Sigh)
Sorry ladies, just because you’re married does not mean your new husband will start picking his clothes up off the floor. And, sorry men, it also doesn’t mean your new wife will start serving breakfast in bed on the regular (if at all).
